Your community – Susanna, volunteer youth worker

The Lightmoor Village Youth Project began in 2023 as we knew how important it was for our young people to have activities to take part in. Our youth clubs are very popular and rely on volunteers such as Suzanna.
Suzanna, how long have you volunteered for?
I’ve been volunteering since the clubs started and I go every week.
What does your role include?
It’s about supporting young people by providing guidance and mentorship. It’s also about advocating for young people and of course having fun!
What’s the best thing about your role?
Having the opportunity to positively impact young people’s lives by helping them gain essential skills and overcome challenges.
What’s been the most memorable occasion so far?
The photo booth was so much fun and great to see the young people enjoy it so much.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy reading, cooking/baking and walking my dog, Ruby.
