Update from Keepmoat

Posted on: 27 Jun 23

28.6.23 – FURTHER UPDATE:

We have received a further update from the developers in relation to the planned works this week and the further damage caused by vehicles driving over the closed road:

  • Yesterday’s surfacing went to plan and the point was reached which was intended – just before New Meadow junction with Monksmoor above the compound.
  • Today will be the most disruptive for residents especially around lunchtime as The Paddocks will be closed.
  • As planned Kiln Close will be planed off Thursday and surfacing will be carried out on Friday.

Sadly, some residents have moved signs and barriers, in this instance they drove over tar that had only just been rolled causing scarring on New Meadow. This has also happened on Monksmoor.
The scarring is not down to the construction, material choice or installation but the damage caused by vehicles driving over it. Remedial work will need to be carried out, at a further cost.

PLEASE do not remove any barriers and if required park in the temporary overflow car park (turn left out of The Paddocks towards the village centre and take the first left) to ensure no further delays or costs to completing these works.

Every Monday representatives from BVT meet with Keepmoat for an update relating to the works for The Paddocks. During the last couple of weeks, changes to the reported timetable have been made due to reasons beyond their control, however we have asked them to provide us with time sensitive updates when required, so we can inform you.

We appreciate the inconvenience when plans change and will inform you as soon as we are able. However, can we please strongly request that no vehicles drive on closed roads, this happened yesterday (26th June) and has damaged the tarmac, which will now require remedial work to be carried out.

PLEASE NOTE: The entrance to The Paddocks will be closed from approximately 8am until 5pm on Wednesday 28th June, please ensure all vehicles are removed. The temporary overflow car park is available.

Here is the update from yesterday’s meeting:

Dear Residents

As part of our on-going updates we would re-confirm the previous dates remain as detailed below. We request in advance to ensure vehicles are placed off road to allow works to progress. We are pleased to confirm all works are progressing well and are currently hitting timescales agreed.

Next Stages for surfacing:

  1. Crystal Drive – Road binder course commenced 19th June followed by surface course commenced 26th June. 8.00am to 17.00pm under full Road Closure for the dates mentioned only – works have taken place and have moved along more swiftly than anticipated – final surfacing has started on the 26th as per plan
  2. Monksmoor Road (o/side no.17 up to no.65) & New Meadow Road (o.side no.53 down to no. 31) – Road binder course commenced 20th June followed by surface course commences today (27th June). 8.00am to 17.00pm under full Road Closure for the dates mentioned only
  3. New Meadow Road (o/side no.29/31 down to entrance) & Entrance area New Meadow Road – Road binder course commenced 21st June followed by surface course commencing 28th June. 8.00am to 17.00pm under full Road Closure for the dates mentioned only
  4. Following completion of the above surfacing works our sub-contractors will follow on with the highway white lining works, this has been programmed to commence early July.

Our sub-contractors will continue to liaise with residents in the areas affected and maintain traffic management systems on site to facilitate works. The final stages following surfacing works will be to carry out Highway inspections, de-mobilisation of compound and reinstatement of POS area and planting as required.

It is anticipated that access to the estate will need to be closed to put the top course on to the roads. Notification will be given as soon as have more specific timelines – it is likely to be Wednesday the 28th – further updates to follow if this changes

Thank you for your patience while these works are completed it is fully appreciated

We thank you for your ongoing co-operation during these works. If you have any queries relating to this information, please contact us via [email protected]

Notes:

Road binder course/surface cause is the build-up of layers for the road construction below the final surfacing course.

Sub-contractors are Conro & Sons and they will letter drop in areas they are working.

The traffic management system will vary depending on the type of work, for some areas the machinery is larger and so may have to part close sections of road/half width carriageways, it will be suited to the operation in hand.
