Where the stewardship charge is spent

Posted on: 17 Jun 24

Some residents ask why they pay the stewardship charge when their area isn’t adopted, and we are unable to put things right. The estates and stewardship service includes:

– Looking after the four parks and large open green spaces
– Organising and assisting with many community activities whether it’s the intergenerational work between the primary school and Bournville House or our work with Shropshire Youth Project to the various events and activities we hold throughout the year.
– In collaboration with the resident-led management committee, we carry out projects such as the revision of the Design Guide, which saw changes made following consultations with residents.
– Our role is to ensure residents comply with the Design Guide, so we offer the opportunities for involvement throughout an alteration process to ensure it goes through smoothly. We also carry out regular estate checks and report on any breaches that have been noted.
– Our three estate caretakers follow their rota for courtyards as well as manage the Oak Tree Community Centre.

The stewardship charge residents pay does not cover all the above activities and BVT contributes to these services, details are available from https://bvtlightmoorvillage.org.uk/your-home/stewardship-charge.
