Lightmoor Way road update
Posted on: 25 Jul 24
Earlier this year temporary repairs took place to fill the potholes that had appeared on Lightmoor Way at both entrances to the village, this was due to last until the final phase took place which would allow adoption by Telford and Wrekin Council (T&WC). Unfortunately, due to the significant wet weather this year, the material used to repair the road has washed away and resulted in the potholes being unable to be repaired again and full resurfacing is required.
Due to this, discussions have taken place with T&W Council earlier than planned regarding the future adoption of the roads which the joint venture are responsible for. Historically T&WC would not consider discussing or adopting any road until all construction work is completed, however they have accepted our request to complete the work via their contractors. This means the work will be carried out to the standard they will accept adoption and means it will happen immediately without the usual need for a 12-month maintenance period which is standard when any council takes adoption of a road.
Currently costing and detailed design is underway with T&W council, and we hope to provide further timescales in due course with details of when the work will be completed.
Lightmoor Village has been developed through a joint venture between Bournville Village Trust and Homes England (formerly the Homes and Communities Agency). Outline planning permission for the Village, a mix of owned, social rent and shared ownership homes pepper-potted across the development, was granted in 2003. Since then, a further 200 properties have been added to the masterplan, taking the total number to 1,000 once housebuilding is complete.
