Furnace Avenue roadworks

Posted on: 30 Aug 24

As you’ll be aware works have been taking place on Furnace Avenue between the school and Bournville House in readiness for the phase to be completed. However, on inspection by Telford and Wrekin Council highways, the works to the pathways needed to be removed and re-laid. BVT has had meetings with the developer Morro and the new timelines to complete this work, will ensure no disruption to school next week.

Today, the contractors have completed the work on the pathway next to Bournville House and will finish the one next to the school side by Monday (2nd Sept) evening, all materials will be removed from the new car park, making it accessible for parents, carers, and visitors on Tuesday morning.

Following this, they will return to remove the old road surface and tarmac but this will take place over a weekend in September and as soon as we have confirmed dates, we will advise. The work will potentially take place on a Saturday and Sunday or over two Saturdays. We have asked for the work to be completed outside of school days to minimise disruption.

We understand the frustration these delays cause but BVT is in regular contact with Morro and we will continue to update you when details are confirmed.

In the meantime, members of the Estates & Stewardship team will be on patrol on Tuesday morning to ensure the start of the school term goes smoothly. If you would like to speak to a member of the team concerning this, please pop into the Oak Tree Community Centre or email [email protected]
