Road adoption/works update

Posted on: 13 Sep 24

Following the update posted in July regarding road adoptions, as we advised both entrances to the village were being snagged and works costed by Telford and Wrekin Council Highways Team.  The costs are being verified by the Joint Venture consultants before the go ahead is given, which is due by the end of the month.

As the remedial work to Lightmoor Way North (Horsehay entrance) is minimal, it is likely to take place early Autumn. The work to Lightmoor Way South (Stoneyhill entrance) is more extensive and will require a road closure.  Therefore, discussions have taken place with the local bus company regarding this, and they have advised they would prefer work to take to take place in the school holidays to prevent any disruption to the school service.  Timewise it wouldn’t be possible to complete this in the October half-term and it won’t be possible to do this during the Christmas break. Therefore, work is likely to be completed in February 2025.

We are of course aware the condition of Lightmoor Way South has deteriorated over the last few months and with work now not expected to start until February, we are going to complete another temporary repair to the potholes to ensure the road is safe throughout the winter.  This work will take place on Saturday 28th September and further updates confirming the start of work to Lightmoor Way North will follow once available.

In addition, Morro Partnerships, the developers will be completing the work to resurface Furnace Avenue on the weekend of 21st & 22nd September. The road will be closed, and residents affected in Bournville House and The Croppings 2 area have been notified. On Monday 16th September, Morro Partnerships will also be removing the trees on The Croppings 2 area, to replant them in tree pits to ensure they don’t damage pathways.

Any queries concerning any of the roadworks, please contact us by popping into the BVT office in the Oak Tree Community Centre or email [email protected].
