Keeping our play areas safe

Keeping our play areas safe

Posted on: 03 Oct 25

Our team has once again been hard at work making sure play areas in Lightmoor Village are safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Recently 14 tons of bark were spread across the top play area at Croppings Park and the Paddock play area. This follows the 14 tons spread in the lower play area at Croppings Park back in August.

The cost of this work comes from the stewardship charge that all residents pay. Part of this goes into a ‘wear and tear’ fund, which is used for replacing and maintaining items across the village, such as bark in play areas, fencing, or lighting.

Because the stewardship charge doesn’t cover the full cost of running Lightmoor Village (BVT subsidised nearly £205,000 in 2023), we always look for ways to minimise expenses. One example is having our own teams carry out jobs like bark spreading, instead of hiring contractors.

A huge thank you goes to our estate caretakers, grounds maintenance team, and estate officer for a brilliant job.
