Concerns around Croppings 2

Posted on: 03 Jul 24

We’ve been aware concerns have been raised by residents in and around Furnace Avenue (part of Croppings 2) regarding rubbish, children playing and the state of the area. This area is still in the hands of the developers, so we are working with them to make sure the work is completed.

However, with regard the issues that have been raised, we can advise:

Litter – As the area hasn’t been finished, bins have yet to be installed. We will discuss this with the developers and if required, install ones ourselves.  We ask all residents to dispose of their litter responsibly and will be speaking with the primary school and Lightmoor Village Youth Project to promote this and ask all parents/carers to also discuss with their young people.

Children playing – The main concern around children playing is ensuring their safety, as playing on roads and in car parks is dangerous. We have lovely parks and play areas in the village and there will be an extension to Woodlands Park, so please encourage children to play in these areas. Letters have been sent to residents in the area and we’ll also be speaking to the primary school and Lightmoor Village Youth Project to help young people understand the dangers of playing on roads and in car parks.

Landscape maintenance – These areas are still in the responsibility of the developer, Morro Partnerships, so we are working with them to make sure the work is completed in a satisfactory way. With regard to front gardens, this is the responsibility of the resident and if not looked after, this will put them in breach and the process will begin to get it resolved.

If you’d like to speak about the above areas in more detail, please either pop into the BVT office within Oak Tree Community Centre or email [email protected]
