Five-year-old Arlo takes on 31-mile challenge to help poorly children

Posted on: 18 Aug 26

Five-year-old Lightmoor Village resident Arlo is proving that you’re never too young to make a difference.

This August, Arlo is taking part in the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity Kids Summer Challenge, with a goal of walking 31 miles throughout the month to raise money for poorly children receiving treatment at the hospital.

And he’s doing brilliantly!

Arlo has already completed an incredible 26.95 miles, leaving just over four miles to go. Many of his miles have been clocked up exploring the beautiful parks and open spaces around Lightmoor Village, but his challenge has also taken him further afield.

He has explored Ironbridge and Bridgnorth and even visited Birmingham Children’s Hospital to see his cousin, who is currently receiving treatment there. During his visit, Arlo also walked to the museum to see the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition – adding another memorable adventure to his challenge.

For Arlo and his mum Stacey and dad Daniel, this challenge is about much more than simply completing 31 miles. It’s about showing that kindness and helping others can start at any age.

Stacey said: “I want Arlo to grow to be kind. It can be easy to concentrate on the negative, but most people want the best for others and will support however they can. We’ve loved doing this challenge and Arlo knows it will help children like his cousin, who is currently receiving treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”

Help Arlo reach his goal!

Arlo has already walked more than 26 miles and is enjoying every step of his challenge. With just over four miles to go, why not show your support and help him reach his 31-mile target?
